Our solid bronze privacy levers and knobs have a locking button. In case of an emergency, the pin can be unlocked from the outside. Simply slide a needle into the hole of the eschuechtone (bronze plate behind lever or knob) to unlock. Our solid bronze knobs and levers are used primarily on bathrooms, master bedrooms, and guest rooms. This is different than passage levers, which don't lock.
Our bronze privacy levers and knobs are relatively easy to install. This guide elaborates on the paperwork that came in the box. You’re probably reading this because the paper for your lever or knob didn’t answer all of your questions. Hopefully this page does. If it doesn’t, call us. We're happy to help.
Step 1
Make sure your active door is cut correctly
Double Doors
If you are installing privacy levers on double doors, make sure that only one door meets these requirements. This depicts the cuts on the active door, i.e., the door with hardware that you actually twist to open. The other door, the inactive door, is non-functional.
Single Door
If you only install this hardware entry set on one door, make sure that the one door you are installing it on has these measurements. Otherwise, the solid bronze door hardware won't fit.
Nearly all US doors come pre-cut like the diagram below. So installing our solid bronze privacy lever should be easy. If your active door hasn't been cut yet, you should hire a carpenter to cut the door to these specifications. Any carpenter could do it. These are the dimensions of almost all US doors. We don't recommend it, but you could cut the door yourself. Learn how by Clicking here.
